Installation - Step 2 - SUSE

  1. Open a console/terminal window.
  2. Login as the super user (root), enter this command:

Warning: The root password gives you administrative privileges on the system.

su
  1. Press Enter.
  2. Enter the root password.
  3. Press Enter.

The next steps will configure SuSE to use internet media sources to download the required files.

  1. Enter this command: (This may take several minutes to complete.)
installation_sources -a http://suse.mirrors.tds.net/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source/
  1. Enter this command:
installation_sources -a http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/10.0/SUSE-Linux10.0-GM-Extra/
  1. Remove the CD as an install source, click:
K Menu > "System" > Control Center (YaST) > Installation Source
  1. Select (or highlight) "SUSE LINUX Version 10.0 cd:///;devices=/dev/hdc" and finally click "Enable/Disable"
  2. Make sure the CD is disabled, then click "Finish". Close YaST.
  3. Enter this command to install the required HPLIP dependencies:
yast --install cups-devel python-devel python-xml kdebindings3-python net-snmp-devel openssl libjpeg-devel gcc-c++

Proceed to step 3.
